1. About these Terms
These Listener & Music Request Terms apply when you send Sound Surfer Radio a music request,
dedication, listener message, comment, shout-out or other submission through our website, email, social
media or another channel we make available.
By submitting a request or message, you agree to these Terms.
2. Music requests
Sound Surfer Radio welcomes music requests and dedications where the relevant programme or
presenter offers this feature.
A request is not a guarantee that a particular song will be played. Requests may not be possible because
of programme schedules, music availability, licensing considerations, technical limitations or editorial
decisions. Sound Surfer Radio and its presenters may choose whether, when and how a request is broadcast.
3. Listener messages and dedications
Messages and dedications may be read, mentioned or otherwise included in a live or recorded
programme. Please remember that anything you submit for broadcast may potentially be heard by other listeners.
Do not include private or sensitive information about yourself or another person unless there is a genuine
reason to do so.
4. Information you provide
Depending on the request service used, we may ask for information such as your name, email address,
requested song and dedication.
We will use personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
If you do not want your name mentioned on air, please tell us when submitting your request. We cannot
guarantee that a message submitted through a public or third-party platform will remain private.
5. Content we may not broadcast
We reserve the right not to broadcast or publish a request, message or dedication where we reasonably
consider it inappropriate or unsuitable.
This may include material that:
Is unlawful, threatening, abusive, harassing or defamatory
Contains hate speech or discriminatory material
Contains excessive profanity or sexually explicit material where inappropriate for the programme
Promotes violence or criminal activity
Contains another persons private or confidential information without appropriate permission
Infringes copyright, trade mark, privacy or other rights
Is deliberately misleading, fraudulent or intended to cause harm
Contains spam, advertising or promotional material without our permission
Is otherwise unsuitable for the programme or audience
6. Your responsibility for submissions
By submitting a request or message, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate to the best
of your knowledge and that you have the right to submit it.
You must not impersonate another person or submit material designed to mislead listeners about who is
making the request. You are responsible for the content of your submission.
7. Permission to use submissions
By submitting a request, dedication or listener message, you give Sound Surfer Radio permission to use
the submission for purposes connected with the station and the feature for which it was submitted,
including broadcasting or displaying the submission where appropriate.
This permission does not transfer ownership of copyright in original material you create. It simply allows
Sound Surfer Radio to use your submission for the relevant station purpose.
If we wish to use a submission for a substantially different promotional or commercial purpose, we may
seek additional permission where appropriate.
8. Editing and moderation
Sound Surfer Radio may shorten, edit, decline or moderate submissions where reasonably necessary for
broadcast suitability, clarity, timing, legal compliance or the protection of listeners and the station.
We may remove a submission from our website or other platform where appropriate.
9. Third-party platforms
Requests may sometimes be submitted through third-party services such as social media platforms,
messaging services or external forms.
Those services have their own terms and privacy policies. Sound Surfer Radio is not responsible for the
privacy practices or operation of third-party platforms.
10. No guarantee of broadcast
Submitting a request does not guarantee that it will be broadcast.
Sound Surfer Radio may receive more requests than can be accommodated during a programme and
may prioritise requests according to programme format, timing and editorial considerations.
11. Changes to request services
We may introduce, change, suspend or discontinue music request and listener interaction features at any
time.
